Business networking in London: your options

A fair, plain guide to meeting business people in London, from the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry and BNI breakfasts to 4Networking, Meetup nights, sector events and introduction clubs that link London with the rest of the UK and the world.

The short answer

London has more ways to meet business people than any city in Europe. The London Chamber of Commerce and Industry runs the big, formal programme. BNI and 4Networking run regular breakfast groups across the boroughs. Meetup and Eventbrite list hundreds of sector events every week. Trade associations and bilateral chambers gather the specialists. And introduction clubs, like ours, cut through the crowd by putting you in front of one right person, through someone who knows you both.

What London feels like for business

London is fast, crowded and endlessly connected. Suits stream out of Bank station into the Square Mile, the glass towers of Canary Wharf catch the morning light, and in Shoreditch the meetings happen on beanbags over flat whites. There is a networking event for everything, most nights, which is both the joy and the problem: the city is so full of rooms that it is easy to spend months in them and meet no one who matters to you.

Your main options

The London Chamber of Commerce and Industry

The capital's established chamber, with business groups, events, international trade support and advocacy. It suits firms that want profile, trade help and access to established companies. Membership is paid.

BNI and 4Networking

BNI chapters meet weekly with one member per profession and a strong referral culture. 4Networking runs regular breakfast meetings with a more relaxed format. Both suit service businesses who want a routine and are happy to commit time each week.

Meetup, Eventbrite and sector events

Fintech, property, creative, food and drink, legal, there is a room for every sector, nearly every evening. These are excellent for learning who is who, and less reliable for real business, because nobody in the room is vouching for anyone.

Trade associations and bilateral chambers

London hosts the chambers that link Britain with dozens of countries, and associations for almost every trade. If you sell into one market abroad, its chamber can be the most useful room you visit all year.

Introduction clubs

In a My Most Trusted club, you say who you want to meet and someone who genuinely knows them introduces you. Several of our bridges lead into London: The Yorkshire-London Business Bridge and The Mumbai-London Business Bridge, both looking for their London host, The USA-UK Business Bridge, The UK-Portugal Business Bridge, and the UK's bridges to Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

How to choose

Referrals, and the next move

In a city this big, a referral from someone trusted is the shortcut through the noise. The same goes for careers: many Londoners meet their next employer, or their next hire, through a quiet introduction long before a role is advertised.
